LS Cable & System acquires ISO 27001 for international information security certification 2020-03-25

■ High security level required, as the first national security product in the cable industry

■ Expected to secure objective reliability regarding security from global clients

On December 26, LS Cable & System (President & CEO Roe-hyun Myung) announced that the company has acquired information protection certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

ISO 27001 is the most authoritative international standard in the information security field. In order to acquire the accreditation, a strict evaluation must be passed in 14 categories and 114 detailed items regarding information security policies, human resources security, and security incident management.

Due to the widespread increase of breaches of corporate data and information, ISO 27001 accreditation is becoming a key requisite for participating in project bids.

With the increasing number of laws protecting corporate and national data, including personal information, the company explained that clients are increasing the number of inspection items regarding compliance with security regulations, security policies, and technological response systems.

In particular, cables of power and communication networks must now meet national security requirements, so a high security standard is required from the bidding stage.

Executive Director Wan-seob Joo of LS  C&S, Business Administration said, “It is expected that this certification will build credibility in our company’s security from our global clients and help us win projects in the future. We will settle the information protection management system by spreading it to overseas affiliates, etc.”

The certification ceremony was held on December 26 in LS Tower, Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, with Wan-seob Joo, leader of LS C&S Business Administration Team, and CEO Jang-seob Lee of DNV GL Korea among the participants.
